Minister Valerie Collins is no stranger to working diligently for the Kingdom of God. Before her introduction into full-time ministry, she received a medical secretary certificate in 1989 and throughout the years, utilized that certificate to become a full-time deputy clerk at The Glynn County Court House. As the years transpired, she moved on to become a medical secretary at southeast Georgia Regional Health Systems, where she worked in Oncology for many years. From there, she decided to go back to school and obtain her Associate’s degree from AIU in Business administration.
Later on in life, Valerie and her daughter moved to Charleston, South Carolina where she accepted a position at MUSC, working at the oncology center. It was divine intervention where the Holy Spirit directed her steps to Flowers Ministries Inc. (FMI), through Pastor Tonya Holmes (Now Dr. Holmes) and New Life Christian Center. In 2014, Valerie and her daughter entered into FMI’s homeless program entitled the Shepherd Mission House, where she was broken at that time and became whole through the Ministry. While in the Ministry, the Lord called her to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to His People, and in January 2015, she was licensed to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ. It is her testimony that she believes God sent her to Flowers Ministries, Inc. and in December 2015, she was instructed by the Holy Spirit to resign off of her secular job and became full-time within the Ministry by 12/15/15. She was obedient to His voice, accepted the call, and expresses that she is very grateful.
Currently, Valerie faithfully serves as both an administrator for Flowers Ministries, Inc. a federal and nationally recognized 501(C)3 nonprofit charitable organization, and FMI Biblical Studies and Seminary which is a certified post-secondary school offering certificates and degrees that are biblically based. It was also through Flowers Ministries Inc., she was able to birth her own ministry called, The Destiny Place, which serves a target population of those who have suffered from domestic violence of both male and female. In 2020, she received her Bachelor’s in Christian Counseling and earned her Master of Christian Counseling degree at FMI Biblical Studies and Seminary in 2022.
The Scripture that she lives by, comes out of the book of Philippians and reads as thus: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” (Philippians 4:13, KJV).
